Summer Reading Program 2012

Our fantastic Summer Reading Program begins Friday, June 1 (continuing through Tuesday, July 31) and offers children, teens and their families the opportunity to share reading time together and attend special guest programs while keeping track of their reading successes. Summer reading helps children keep their brains active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and succeed.

Children from birth to age 5 can join the Rubber Ducky Reading Club. Choose activities that help develop early literacy skills and earn prizes. Prizes include a rubber ducky and a board book to take home, as well as an entry into a drawing for a chance to win a gift of books.

Kids in kindergarten through grade 5 can join Dream Big, READ! Kids read to earn a Book Buck to redeem in any of the Library District Foundation’s Used Bookstores, a gold medal and an entry into a prize drawing for a chance to win a $50 gift card from Barnes & Noble.

Own the Night is the program for teens in grades six and up. Teens who read earn a Book Buck, a magnetic bookmark and an entry into a drawing for a chance to win a Sony WiFi eReader.

Stop by any Library District branch on or after June 1 to pick up a reading log or go online and get started. For more information on free programs, visit our website.
