Free After-School Tutoring

Get Free Online Homework Help at the Library
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s web site has a special Homework Help section that can be used from home, at the library or from school. A library card and a computer with Internet access is all that is needed. Just select Homework Help under Quick Links on the Kids or Teens pages to find information on a variety of subjects organized by subject and grade level. (more…)
Windmill Library to Open with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Saturday, May 7, 2011, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to open the Windmill Library, 7060 W. Windmill Lane. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and will include brief remarks by Executive Director Jeanne Goodrich, Library District Board of Trustees Vice Chair Kelly Benavidez and Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager. Local Libraries Offer Free Music Download Service
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District (LVCCLD) and the Henderson District Public Libraries (HDPL) announced they are now offering their library cardholders access to songs from Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists through their web sites. Cardholders may download three songs per week through the new service, called Freegal, which will work with any MP3 player including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. Helping People Get Back to Work with Project EASE
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s CALL program (Computer Assisted Literacy in Libraries) will host a Coffee Chat on Monday, January 24, 2011, at 4 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 West Lake Mead Boulevard, to introduce local residents to Project EASE (Educational Assistance to Support Employability). Potential students will have the opportunity to ask questions, review the teaching materials, meet other students as well as the people who will help them accomplish their educational or employment goals. Revenue Shortfall Reduces Library Hours and Services
At its May 20, 2010 board meeting, the Library District’s Board of Trustees adopted the FY 2010-2011 budget starting July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2011. The budget’s General Fund, or operating fund, is $52.5 million. (more…)
