Digital Media and the Future of Learning
Join us as the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation presents Community Conversations featuring Dr. Mimi Ito at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 at the Windmill Library.
Author of Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out: Kids Living and Learning with New Media, Dr. Ito will talk about how kids are learning through digital media, recognizing the fears and risks, but focusing on maximizing opportunities for learning with the new technologies–online, mobiles and games. Dr. Ito will give examples of parenting strategies, in-school and out-of-school strategies and the growing body of online communities driven by interest groups. (more…)
Book Group Mixer at Centennial Hills Library
Join us for a Book Group Mixer, a pre-festival event of the Vegas Valley Book Festival, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6 at the Centennial Hills Library.
Detective Chris Baughman, author of Off the Street, will be appearing for discussion of his book and book signing. A work of nonfiction, it details the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Pandering Investigation Team creation, their first high-level bust and how they became known throughout Las Vegas and the country as an unstoppable force in pandering cases. Join special guest author Patricia Nell Warren as she shares her book My West at the Clark County Library on Sunday, October 23 at 2 p.m.
