Learn to Download Books and More with the Digital Bookmobile

The Digital Bookmobile, an immersive download experience inside a 74-foot, high-tech tractor-trailer, will roll into town on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Windmill Library. Anyone who takes a tour of the Digital Bookmobile will receive an entry into a drawing for a chance to win a Sony eReader. You can take advantage of the download service now when you visit our eMedia Catalog. We offer downloadable music and videos, and eBooks and eAudiobooks for use on a PC or Mac computer and popular mobile devices such as a Smartphone, MP3 player, and eBook readers like the Barnes & Noble® Nook™ and Sony® Reader. You can also download popular and classic eBooks to a Kindle device or any mobile device running the free Kindle app, such as iPhone®, iPad®, Android™, and more. At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. No late fees or damaged items!

Book Group Mixer at Centennial Hills Library

Join us for a Book Group Mixer, a pre-festival event of the Vegas Valley Book Festival, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6 at the Centennial Hills Library.   

Detective Chris Baughman, author of Off the Street, will be appearing for discussion of his book and book signing. A work of nonfiction, it details the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Pandering Investigation Team creation, their first high-level bust and how they became known throughout Las Vegas and the country as an unstoppable force in pandering cases. Helping People Get Back to Work with Project EASE

Our CALL program (Computer Assisted Literacy in Libraries), will host a Coffee Chat at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012, at the West Las Vegas Library to introduce local residents to Project EASE (Educational Assistance to Support Employability).

Potential students will have the opportunity to ask questions, review the teaching materials, meet other students, as well as the people who will help them accomplish their educational or employment goals.  (more…)

Spring 2012 Gallery Exhibits

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District art galleries offer a variety of exhibits throughout the year expressing the diversity of local, regional and national artists. Exhibits range from ceramic sculpture to black and white photography; from the fine art of quilts to original art from published children’s books.

Gallery exhibits are free and open to the public, and can be viewed at our urban branches from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours for outlying branches vary. For more information, visit our website.
